21st of April: Founding of Rome

Rome is a great historic city. It was discovered on April 21st, 753 BC, area has been constantly inhabited since that time. The goddess of shepherded, pales was worshipped on April 21st. The Credit to discover the city goes to Latins, they originally stayed in Colli Albani, later they moved from that palce to downward valleys, which provides them better place for survival. This area is perfect for agriculture and for animal breeding. The area around the Tiber River was particularly advantageous and also offers vast verities of resources. The river also acts as border on one side and the hill on the other side provides a defensive supports to inhabitants. The development of town is from development of small villages located at the top of hills which forms the town named Rome. Quirinal Hill was also very important at that time; it acts as centre of ancient Rome.

Celebrating the founding of Rome

The legend of Rome is very popular as great personality belongs to it. The defeated army of troy crossed the Mediterranean Sea on the orders of prince Aeneas and reached the Italian cost. Here they were considered that they have reached the area between modern Anzio and Fiumicino situated at the south west part of Rome. But most probably it is considered that they have reached the Laurentum. According to myths it is considered that Mars has two sons with Rea Silvia which is Priestess devoted to sacred cult of Vesta. Silvia means woods or forest and at that time she was worshipped as goddess. Romulus and Remus are two twins and the credit to discover Rome was given to them. The name of city is decided on the name of Romulus. Both were sons of Priestess Rea Silvia and abandoned by her at the time of execution. Then both sons were taken by she wolf, after they become adult, they discovered city.
